Governor's Executive Orders
The power to issue Executive Orders is derived from the Missouri Constitution, Article IV, Section 14, which reads, "He [the Secretary of State] shall keep a register of the official acts of the governor, attest them when necessary, and when required shall lay copies thereof, and all papers relative thereto, before either house of the general assembly."
Executive Orders are issued to direct the offices of the executive branch in some manner. They are numbered by a two digit year followed by the specific number of the order, such as 95-03.
NOTE: The orders found on these pages are not official copies and are not intended as legal documents. Official copies of Executive Orders can be requested from the Missouri Secretary of State, Commissions, 600 W. Main, Jefferson City, MO 65101.
